SCS receives support from the City of Sunnyvale, County of Santa Clara, Emergency Food and Shelter Program, and United Way Silicon Valley. 84% of our revenue comes from the corporate and community sector. Our overhead ranges between 10% and 12%, very low for nonprofits especially smaller ones with fewer cost centers to distribute overhead expenses.

1. For our Food Programs
Canned and packaged foods:
bullet tuna
bullet peanut butter
bullet cereal
bullet powdered milk (Milkman packets)
bullet canned stews, chili, other protein items
bullet canned soups
bullet canned fruits and vegetables
bullet tomato sauce, tomato paste
bullet pasta, rice, and beans

2. Brown Paper Bags
We use thousands every month. They are becoming more expensive but hold much more than plastic bags and stack more easily.

3. Hotel Collectors
Collect unopened hotel size soaps, lotions, shampoos, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and combs. Most of us think of these items as necessitities, but for low-income families and seniors, they are luxuries.

4. For our auction that benefits the Community Christmas Center
bullet vacation homes/condos for a week or weekend
bullet electronic items (DVD, TV, pocket PCs, GPS systems, games)
bullet sports memorabilia
bullet sport event tickets
bullet gourmet items, dinners
bullet one of a kind items such as a flight in a small plane
bullet jewelry
bullet hobby to share (trip on a boat, rock climbing lesson)
bullet collectibles
bullet gift certificates for services and meals
bullet anything someone might buy
