SCS receives support from annual events and special activities. There is absolutely no cost to the agency for any of these events, so 100% of dollars contributed supports our clients and programs. We are extremely grateful to the generous donors who provide these fundraising events and to those who participate.

Each year in early December, the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce hosts an auction to benefit SCS’ Community Christmas Center in our building at 725 Kifer Road. There is no admission fee to the auction though we ask for a donation of a bag of groceries, a new gift (especially for 7-12 year olds and teens), or household gift (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items).
Joe Antuzzi, owner of Il Postale, provided dinner for everyone. Network Appliance provided the wine and sodas. About 30 items comprise the oral auction, with at least 100 more in the silent auction. To give you an idea of what is included in the auction, please check the list of items we had for the 2008 auction.
Please contact us if you have something to donate or would like more information about the event.
Jerry and Julie Nabhan and Rebecca Buldo of Specialty Solid Waste and Recycling (Sunnyvale’s garbage company) host a fantastic annual event held not at the aromatic dump itself but in the corporate parking lot. The terrific food includes delicacies from Seafood Cove (thanks to Toyota Sunnyvale) and the best barbecued steak, chicken, and salmon you’ve ever tasted, grilled to perfection by Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers.
There is a raffle with terrific prizes. The event is so successful that attendance grew from 300 the first year, to 650 and 800 the next two years.
Proceeds benefit SCS and several other nonprofits. This trashy affair is not to be missed. Check the website for updates on the 2009 Dinner at the Dump.
Jua and Taneerat Rattanaphun, owners of the Thai Basil restaurants, donate a banquet dinner to SCS without any cost to the agency whatsoever. We appreciate their wonderful generosity as well as their absolutely fantastic food, named best Thai food in the area by the San Jose Mercury News. Check the website for the date of the next dinner in spring 2009. Call 738-0121 for information and details.
