Donor Advised Fund

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient and tax-efficient way to support our mission. If you have a DAF through organizations such as Morgan Stanley, Fidelity Charitable, or DAFgiving360, you can recommend a grant to Sunnyvale Community Services. Your contribution will help us continue making a meaningful impact in the community.

Join our Leslie Lawton Legacy Society (Bequest, Trust, Will)

Our generous supporters make a big impact by planning gifts that help our community. Planned giving means donors commit to supporting us either now or later as a part of their financial planning in their will or bequest.

This includes various options like leaving gifts in a trust or will, donating assets, or naming us in insurance policies. These commitments are crucial for us to carry out our mission. Download this PDF or contact development for more information at development@svcommunityservices.org.

IRA, Qualified Charitable Distribution, Required Minimum Distributions

If you're age 70½ or older, you have a unique opportunity to use your IRA to support Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) and make a meaningful difference in our community—while also receiving potential tax advantages. Through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), you can direct up to $108,000 annually from your traditional or Roth IRA tax-free to a qualified nonprofit like SCS.

If you're 73 or older and subject to Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), a QCD can satisfy part or all of that obligation while keeping your taxable income lower. This can help reduce your exposure to taxes on Social Security benefits and avoid higher Medicare premiums or other tax thresholds tied to your adjusted gross income.

Unlike traditional charitable contributions, QCDs do not require you to itemize deductions. Even if you claim the standard deduction, you can still enjoy a tax benefit. These gifts must be sent directly from your IRA custodian to the charity, and the funds must be transferred by December 31 to count for the current tax year.
