I support Sunnyvale Community Services because I see in this group of individuals the embodiment of community and fellowship that the world is striving for so desperately. This is a community that brings joy, hope, and peace when their clients are most struggling to find those very treasures. I truly believe that we could not fathom how much worse the homelessness and hunger issue would be if SCS was not here to be a goliath on the front lines in Santa Clara County and that is why I am so honored to play a part, however small, in supporting Sunnyvale Community Services.

I support Sunnyvale Community Services because its mission is rooted in a fundamental truth: that food and shelter are basic human rights, not privileges to be earned. For too many of our neighbors, an unexpected setback—a medical bill, a lost job—can make these essentials feel impossibly out of reach. This raises the most critical question for our community: Where is the safety net? The answer is SCS. They are the safety net for Sunnyvale.

In education, there's a popular saying: “You've got to Maslow before you can Bloom.” It means that basic needs like food, water, and shelter have to be met before a student can really learn. The work SCS does is focused on those foundational needs, making it possible for students to come to school, learn, and maximize their potential. This is why I am a supporter of SCS; without them, many of our families might encounter more challenges with the essentials of life, making it more challenging for their students to focus on attending school and learning.

I support SCS because, as a non-profit dedicated to preventing homelessness and hunger, it shines as a beacon of compassion and practical action. SCS empowers individuals and families to access vital resources in times of crisis. Without SCS, our community would lose a valuable resource that contributes to stability, opportunity, and overall well-being of our community.

Being on the Sunnyvale Community Services board lets me use my healthcare and organizational experience to make a real difference, touching lives, fostering compassion, and ensuring people feel supported and valued.
