Volunteer - Family Night
Sunnyvale Community Services extends volunteer opportunities to the youngest members of our community. We host a monthly Family night to introduce children to the concepts of volunteering, empathy, and compassion. We welcome children from 4 years of age up to 12 years of age and their parent(s) or guardian(s).
Our Family Night takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:00pm-8:00pm
This family-friendly event will promote reading, tolerance, and inclusion. The activities will inform discussions around hunger, homelessness and our collective impact. A community member with lived experience will speak about their experience with one or more of these issues. Following the discussion, we will facilitate family volunteering activities and provide an overview of SCS programs and services followed by Q&A.
We ask that participants bring a minimum of 5 canned food items from the list provided:
- Canned vegetables 14-16 oz: corn, green beans, peas, carrots, mixed vegetables, and diced tomatoes.
- Canned beans 14-16 oz: garbanzo, pinto, and black beans.
- Canned fruit 14-16 oz: peach, pear, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, apricots, pineapple (no crushed), mango, and papaya
